Ashbyism

So Sunday between Conference sessions, Ryan, Ashby and I took a walk. Not that we (Ashby and I) don't walk most days, but to have Daddy along was to big plus. As a result we all decided to try and spend time walking together 2-3 times a week.

Today after dinner was one of those nice times. As we a re walking the following occurs:

Me: Ashby, I see the moon. Do you?
Daddy: It's in the sky.
Ashby: ...It's a Tato!! (taco)
Me: (stiffling a laugh) umm, ya, ok. A taco.
Amy "Hope(d) They('d) Call Her on a Mission"

And they Did! You'll have to guess where this spiritually prepared sister of mine has been called to serve:

a.) Nebraska, spanish speaking
b.) Chile, Spanish speaking
c.) France, French Speaking
d.) Salt Lake Temple Square, French Speaking
e.) California, Spanish Speaking

So Let me tell you about my awesome little siste Amy. She is incredibally talent in many ways; she draws, paints, writes and gernally creates (think greeting cards). She is amazing with children, Ashby's love is proof of that, she loves horses and enjoys camping and got paid to combine the two for the past two summers. Amy will be 21 on Oct 12th, happy early birthday! She can be incredibally funny, has a great happiness about her and her favorite color, yes,you guess it PURPLE! She loves her family and friends and the Lord. I am so excited to have a sister on a mission.

Oh Yeah, she has incredibally cute shoes!

So on October 2nd (Happy Birthday to brother Adam!) we gathered in Ogden at Mom and Dad's house just for the occasion of being with Amy as she opened her Mission Call.

She said while she waited for us to arrive she tried to figure out if she could tell where she was going without opening it by doing things such as holding it up to the light and trying to peek through the window.

Have U figured out where she is going yet?

The place she is going is:

Okay, so I'll give you this: She will be speaking a foreign language.
Let's count up your points for your quiz:

1. Please give yourself 5 point if you choose (a), (b), or (e) for choosing the correct language. Spanish.
2. Please give yourself 5 more points if you choose (b) or (c).
3. Please give yourself 10 more points if you realized that the correct answer is (b). Chile, Concepcion South Mission!
To celebrate the Parents took all who could come to eat at Chili's resurant.

We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she will be serving as a Missionary for the next 18 months. If you would like to know more about what we believe, please click here.

LDS General Conference

Every first weekend in April and October the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints free up their schedules so that we can watch and listen to the Lord's prophets as they share and remind us by which standards we should be striving to live.

I always enjoy the time with family and the spiritual re-alignment that I am able to receive as I listen to their words. This was the 178th semi-annual conference. Divide that by two, that's a long time! I am grateful for this opportunity that occurs every 6 months. But even more grateful for the ability to hear or watch these talks at any time for free online. You can too. If your interested, just click on 178th above.

I am grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the many blessings that are all around me. These are the truths that I hold to when everything else, including the economy and the Presidentail election, seems to be in the can.

Mimic and Learn Ashby

I'm sure that we all learn in part by copying the actions of others... :)

Tag I'm it!

Tag.. I'm It!!!
Emily tagged me. Like a month ago. Yeah, I know, how lame to take soo long to respond.
Anyway
How to play this game of tag.Post these rules on your blog:
List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself.
Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

3 Joys:- Family (and that seems to grow constantly :) ), Hobbies (photography, exercise, painting with Ashby) and, Learning I know you like how I snuck in extra joys there...but really you won't be made at me for having More joy will you?
3 Fears:- Losing Ryan, being seriously injured, spiders in the garden (i'm getting much better on this one!)
3 Goals:- shoot wedding photography, be a triathaloner, be able to play piano and sing simultaneously
3 Obsessions/Collections:- (all 3 of mine are obsessions I guess) Twilight...yeah, I know, phermones (think exercise), being out of doors
3 Random or surprising facts:- I'd like to live on a farm, like a real one with cows, chickens, horses, garden and lots of manure (hehe), I also love the city, Ashby already gives me fashion advice and she's only 2!

Now its your turn.. I tag: Zina, Vivian, Tracy , Trine, Rachael

Help Me figure this out!

Help!!
Can anyone give me tips on how to post or "embed" my picasa slide show. I just spent 20 minutes trying to get it to work with no success. Everytime I paste the slideshow HTML code in and hit "publish post", I am delivered an error message that tells me that "Tags cannot be enclosed by tags ". I'm not computer literate enough I guess. Help me if you can. Thanks

Frigid Bathing!

After being on the road for 2 full days Ryan had enough with feeling grimy. Our campsite was without shower facilities but was right along a river.

Ryan decided to attempt a "bath". Jared shortly joined him.
It was cold enough to keep them to just wading for quite a while.

Dad waded in a joined them to give his tiredlegs some relief. This picture shows the extent to which Ryan and Jared got wet. Ryan to just about belly button, but Jared fully dunked himself just for a moment. They said it was pretty cold, but there was stil a little bit of sun to help warm them post "bath"

The morning of the 19th, I woke up needing to feel clean. So I put on my "bathing" suit and after encouraging my sisters to join me, went and got in. Amy and Michelle joined me, but only I got in past my waist. In fact I stayed in chest deep for around 5 minutes! It was so cold that I found it hard to breath. And 3 hours later I was still feeling cold. Silly? Yes. An experience? Yes.
