Summer = Family Reunion

This is probably true for many of you.   Summer provides the opportunity for families large and small to gather together to celebrate being together!  For some a family reunion is an hour at the local park. Or getting together for a 4th of July barbaque and street side fireworks.  Still others gather as many together for as long possible.

Lately I have noticed that family reunions have become more fashionable.  Which if you are a more recent convert to the sport of family gathering, don't be worried, jump on the old band wagon and hang on.  This is one trend I hope never falls out of style.

But my family has been having a family reunion for 50 + years now.  No, I'm not trying to brag.  I just excited about it. Really!  We get together for a weekend of camping, hikes, water fun, stories, skits, food, little sleep, cousins, Really old Uncles, really young 3rd cousins and just fun.

Anyway, this year my parents are in charge of this 3 day event of fun.  It's next week.  And I'm excited.!!!
Water Fight - here we come!

Another type of reunion happened just this week for my family.
My sister Amy Loveless returned home safely after being gone for 18 months on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in the Conception South Mission.  She loved it.  She loves the people.  We love her.  Welcome home Amy-lu.

It's fun to be a Chun

All the cute little girls there that day!

Our ward had a baptism at the beginning of
Feburary. The Chun's, our good friends,
daughter was being baptized so we went to
show our love and support. :)

The meeting was wonderfully attended by the
family of the of the two children being baptized
and other friends in the area.

The meeting was very spiritually uplifting both
in message and song.

Two of Ashby's dearest and longest friendships!
(they've loved each othersince she was 6 months old)

We were glad we were able to go and show
Ashby what a baptism looks like. She was
happy to know that Missionary Aunt Amy is
finding others in Chile who want to be baptized
too!
It was Ashby's first Baptism!
Afterward all were invited to a fabulous
luncheon with delicious food and treats and lots
of fun for the many children who had sat so
nicely during the baptism meeting.
The Awesome Chun Family

Thanks to the Chuns and others for making
the day very special and fun.
It just proves that it really is 'fun to be a Chun'

Amy "Hope(d) They('d) Call Her on a Mission"

And they Did! You'll have to guess where this spiritually prepared sister of mine has been called to serve:

a.) Nebraska, spanish speaking
b.) Chile, Spanish speaking
c.) France, French Speaking
d.) Salt Lake Temple Square, French Speaking
e.) California, Spanish Speaking

So Let me tell you about my awesome little siste Amy. She is incredibally talent in many ways; she draws, paints, writes and gernally creates (think greeting cards). She is amazing with children, Ashby's love is proof of that, she loves horses and enjoys camping and got paid to combine the two for the past two summers. Amy will be 21 on Oct 12th, happy early birthday! She can be incredibally funny, has a great happiness about her and her favorite color, yes,you guess it PURPLE! She loves her family and friends and the Lord. I am so excited to have a sister on a mission.

Oh Yeah, she has incredibally cute shoes!

So on October 2nd (Happy Birthday to brother Adam!) we gathered in Ogden at Mom and Dad's house just for the occasion of being with Amy as she opened her Mission Call.

She said while she waited for us to arrive she tried to figure out if she could tell where she was going without opening it by doing things such as holding it up to the light and trying to peek through the window.

Have U figured out where she is going yet?

The place she is going is:

Okay, so I'll give you this: She will be speaking a foreign language.
Let's count up your points for your quiz:

1. Please give yourself 5 point if you choose (a), (b), or (e) for choosing the correct language. Spanish.
2. Please give yourself 5 more points if you choose (b) or (c).
3. Please give yourself 10 more points if you realized that the correct answer is (b). Chile, Concepcion South Mission!
To celebrate the Parents took all who could come to eat at Chili's resurant.

We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she will be serving as a Missionary for the next 18 months. If you would like to know more about what we believe, please click here.

LDS General Conference

Every first weekend in April and October the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints free up their schedules so that we can watch and listen to the Lord's prophets as they share and remind us by which standards we should be striving to live.

I always enjoy the time with family and the spiritual re-alignment that I am able to receive as I listen to their words. This was the 178th semi-annual conference. Divide that by two, that's a long time! I am grateful for this opportunity that occurs every 6 months. But even more grateful for the ability to hear or watch these talks at any time for free online. You can too. If your interested, just click on 178th above.

I am grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the many blessings that are all around me. These are the truths that I hold to when everything else, including the economy and the Presidentail election, seems to be in the can.

The Loss of a Leader

I just felt a desire to pay a humble tribute to this wonderful man, motivating leader and inspired prophet.
President Gordon Bitner Hinkley passed away today around 7 pm. It is odd because I believe he is now in a better place. But he will be missed.
I cannot put in words the many accomplishments he has, so please follow the link to http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/ read more on him.
My prayers will be with his family and the world. I grieve, hopfully with the world.
